Jana P. Francová is the founder and organizer of the Yes kino festival, which was held for 10 years under its original name, Scalní video, at the Scala University Cinema. Over the past three years, the festival has become international thanks to the participation of art colleges from Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, and other countries. Jana Francová’s deep interest in the moving image is also reflected in her curatorial work for the Umakart Gallery and the international group Videocity. Her theoretical work is reflected in the book Navigator: An Introduction to New Media Art.
In her artistic practice, she creates installations, performances, videos, and video mappings, adopting an intermedia approach. During her studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology (Keiko Sei’s studio), she focused primarily on video installations, specifically the relationship between video and space. She is interested in the potential of connecting audiovisual media and space through site-specific projects, particularly video mapping projections or interactive installations. She frequently collaborates with musicians and explores the intersection of new media with performance, combining projection with musical composition and movement.
In addition to curating, she always prepares an original live event for the Yes Kino festival in conjunction with a screening. This year, it will be the performance Gender Swap with Šimon Kříž. // Vimeo

Letos to bude performance Gender Swap s Šimonem Křížem. // Vimeo
